The PULSE universe
PULSE was formed in 2012 with the idea of writing our own music and having fun. PULSE, since then, has gone through several different formations. We started off as a local rock band with various gigs throughout the Netherlands and Germany. We even recorded a full-length album in 2014 called ‘The Best is not Good Enough’. In hindsight, we call this our experimentation era. While having great fun, the real songs came when PULSE transformed into a project band. Meaning Alissa and Youri stayed together without the other band members. From here on the music became more complex and mature. This we call the modern PULSE era, where we experience freedom to truly create what we want. Since the beginning we have divided our music into generations. We are now in our 10th generation of music. In 2026 we will start the 11th with over 200 songs already existing in our musical library.

PULSE consists of two friends with a shared passion for music.
Alissa: Songwriter, vocalist, bassist and guitarist.
It is my passion to write songs; it makes me feel relaxed. Writing songs comes naturally to me and it’s never boring. I love to seek new arrangements and instruments to have the best results. I got into music in my teenage years and never stopped since then. I’ve played in several bands fulfilling different roles and had lots of fun doing that. However, I feel like since I am not in a real band, my true talent of writing songs blooms. I am free to record what I want, with whatever sounds I find interesting. Over the years I have written more than 200 songs! This also includes some cover songs from bands I like. Inspiration for new projects can come from anywhere and at any time. I can hardly grab a guitar and not start writing immediately. All songs are recorded on the spot, no rehearsals, endless changes or discussions. Of course, songwriting from time to time requires critical thinking, but I mostly just go with the flow. That’s the way I like it. My friendship with Youri is an important ingredient that makes this musical journey work. Let there be many creative years to come!
Youri: Drummer.
Ever since I was young, I felt that rhythm was a big part of me. Drumming, therefore, gives me a sense of stability and allows me to have fun in music. I started drumming at a young age, while inspired by Toto, Dire Straights, Rush and others. Alissa and I, we know each other for over more than 25 years. Music and friendsip makes it soulfull and thus satisfying to me. I enjoy it all till this day. The magic of playing together, creating new stuff is what makes our music so great. Alissa’s songwriting in particular gives me a chance to challenge myself and grow as a drummer and musician. During recording sessions we mess around with diffrent beats, fills and more in order to create great unique songs within the musical landscape. Each song needs a different approach. I cherish our musical journey and friendship; without this, drumming would not be the same.
